Living Voices: Our Revolution-
We had a 1 of a kind live performance that brought history to life. Living Voices blended Interactive Storytelling, and historical knowledge, along with a Q&A session after the performance.
Black Business Expo Kick Off
Umoja collaborated with the Auburn High School Black Student Union (BSU) program to offer a Black Business Expo. A few of the business owners were our very own Umoja Scholars! We listened to the wisdom of Black Business Owners and how to start your small business as well. There was an opportunity to purchase from vendors!
Black Existence: Casting Pearls of Wisdom
In Collaboration with the Center for Cultural and Inclusive Excellence, join Umoja as we listen to intergenerational narratives of Black people. We will be holding a panel and “Hotseat” for panelists! This will be an open discussion about the evolving narrative of being Black and “Casting Pearls of Wisdom” to the future generations.
Wake Up Wednesday -The “N” Word
We had a discussion around the history and use of the “N” Word. Where does it come from? How the word has changed over time. Should we use this word? Can we omit the “N” from the English language?, and more.
Wake Up Wednesday – What They Didn’t Tell Us
Join us as we center our discussion around normalized racism. This conversation will take an in-depth look at some of our childhood Nursery Rhymes, cartoons and other common themes that have a history steeped in Racism.
